When mice become more than just a nuisance
We were recently called to a property in Ascot, Berkshire, where the homeowners had been experiencing problems with mice in the loft.
At first glance, the issue may have appeared to be a fairly typical mouse infestation. However, once our technician Dean carried out a closer inspection, it became clear that the mice had been causing considerably more damage than simply leaving a few droppings behind.
Signs of mouse activity in the loft
During the inspection, Dean found clear evidence of mouse activity, including mouse droppings and signs of movement within the loft insulation.

One of the more concerning findings was evidence that the mice had been gnawing the plastic water pipework within the loft.
Unfortunately, this had contributed to a significant water leak and subsequent water/flood damage to the ceiling below.
The photographs show just how extensive the resulting staining and damage had become.
This is an important reminder that a mouse infestation isn’t necessarily just about food contamination or hearing scratching in the ceiling.
