Bracknell is a town in the Borough of Bracknell Forest in Berkshire. Bracknell is round 10 miles to the east of Reading, 9 miles south of Maidenhead. The town is surrounded, on the east and south, by Swinley Forrest and Gorrick Woods near Crothorne. The urban area has absorbed parts of many local outlying areas including Warfield, Winkfield and Binfield.
Bracknell was first recorded in a Winkfield Boundary Charter of 942AD as Braccan heal, and may mean “Nook of land belonging to a man called Bracca”. “Braccan Heal” was in Windsor Forest which covered all of Berkshire east of the River Loddon. William I created a vast deer park in Windsor Forest and historically it was used by royalty for hunting. In 1350 a Royal Hunting Lodge was built at “Easthampsted Parke” for King Edward III. The Lodge was situated on what is now the Downshire Golf Complex. Catherine of Aragon, Henry VIII’s first wife, had connections with Easthampstead Park as she was banished there when she failed to give birth to a male heir and Henry VIII turned his attentions to Anne Boleyn. In the early eighteenth century Queen Anne hunted in Windsor Forest. She built rides through the forest to allow her to follow the hunt in her carriage being too large to follow on horseback!
Whats In Bracknell
Bracknell town center has had a huge refurbishment on recent years and the Lexicon was formed, the Lexicon is a modern shopping complex in Bracknell where almost one third of the old town was demolished to create the new complex!
With a vast array of pubs, restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and stores there's plenty of temptation for rodents.
We have a number of pest control contracts at the Lexicon to protect the companies from such pest infestations.
Bracknell really does have a bit of everything, heavily forested areas with large detached properties, modern town center, high rise apartment blocks, big housing estates from the 1950's and many new build housing estates.
